I can just picture curious Quibble checking out the birds and their nests :-)  Hearing you tell of the intricate way that nature provides all living creatures with ways to defend their young, ways to interact with each other, and especially how babies of all kinds love to investigate, learn, and play, makes me yearn for the country lifestyle more than ever! It was the first time I had seen babies...they look like miniature replicas of the adults.  So cute.  I love your story and the accompanying photos.
